Cover Reveal: WHEREVER YOU GO

Here it is - the cover for my November 2011 book, Wherever You Go!

I really like it - especially since the amazing Laini Taylor so graciously provided a cover quote for me.

Here's a brief synopsis of the book:

Seventeen-year-old Holly Mullen has felt lost and lonely ever since her boyfriend, Rob, died in a tragic accident. The fact that she has to spend most of her free time caring for her little sister and Alzheimer’s-stricken grandfather doesn’t help. But Holly has no idea that as she goes about her days, Rob’s ghost is watching over her. He isn’t happy when he sees his best friend, Jason, reach out to help Holly with her grandfather—but as a ghost, he can do nothing to stop it. Is his best friend really falling for his girlfriend?

As Holly wonders whether to open her heart to Jason, the past comes back to haunt her. Her grandfather claims to be communicating with the ghost of Rob. Could the messages he has for Holly be real? And if so, how can the loved ones Rob left behind help his tortured soul make it to the other side?

Told from the perspectives of Holly, Jason, and Rob, Wherever You Go is is a poignant story about making peace with the past, opening your heart to love, and finding the courage to move forward into the light.

Thanks for joining me for the reveal!

September Update

It's fall for real...

I've turned in my new book to Harcourt, and I'm in that waiting stage - more revisions could be coming, but once those are done the book goes to copyediting and I'm free to think about the next book.

I'm not sure what the next book will be exactly, but I've been thinking about plans - and how you make promises and plans in the moment, never knowing how life will shake things up when you get to the part when the plan was supposed to happen... I'll be thinking more about this in the coming weeks...

I'll be signing books here:

Emerald City Writers Conference Public Signing
The Hilton Bellevue, WA
Saturday, October 2nd 4-6pm

Summer Update!

I can't believe it's August already! Where did the summer go?

In just one short month, Never Cry Werewolf will be out in paperback! The release date is September 7th. I'm super excited to see the book in a new format and hoping that even more readers will be able to find (and afford) the novel.

In other news, I'm revising my next book, Wherever You Go, for Harcourt. It's another deep, emotional book like The Clearing. I'm in love with the ghost boy in the book, and I hope readers will be too. That book launches way next year in the fall, so I'm deep in the work of making it the best it can be.

Hope all is well and you're having a great summer!

hugs,

Latest News on The Clearing...

The Launch Party for The Clearing was really terrific. Queen Anne Books once again kicked out the jams for this little old YA author.

Here's a link to a wonderful write up my friend Liz Gallagher posted at the Readergirlz site.
http://readergirlz.blogspot.com/2010/04/rgz-seattle-host-heather-davis.html

Looks like I'll be doing a few workshops with Liz this summer, btw... I'll post the deets here soon!

In other news, the nice reviews keep coming in for The Clearing. School Library Journal, Publisher's Weekly, and Booklist have all given it nice write ups. I'm so grateful for this kind attention for this little book!

Some updates on techno-stuff -- I'm posting every Thursday over at http://www.booksboybuzz.com/, a blog I keep with 6 other fun YA writers, so be sure to catch me there each week. Also, I'm now on Twitter as HeatherDbooks, so follow me there if you want to hear random writing and life stuff.

Hugs,

Scaryween was super fun at Secret Garden Books in Ballard! What a wonderful, warm staff and store. Halloween was a great excuse to support another local indie bookstore.

We had a costume contest (notice the Dude and a homemade monster) and four author readings – me, Kevin Emerson, Liz Gallagher, and Cherie Priest.

Never Cry Werewolf on Shelves!

Well, there it is -- my book on stands at Barnes and Noble. I can't believe it!

It wasn't even out on the floor when I first stopped by on release day, but a nice (and very cute) bookseller named Jeff went and got 6 copies from the back - had me sign them and the put them on the shelf. Squeee! What a day.
I followed that up by buying a "moon" pendant necklace to commemorate release day and having dinner with my sister and friend Marlene at The Pink Door - a delicious restaurant near the Pike Place Market. It was a perfect ending to Debut day!
I'll be using this page to update events - so keep watching to see upcoming signings, etc. I'll be at Queen Anne Books on September 18th at 6:30 PM, and Third Place Books is coming up in October!
Hugs,

Favorite Lines and OMG!

This week we are sharing our favorite lines from our books - - but...

THIS JUST IN...

BUZZ GIRL SIMONE ELKELES is NOMINATED FOR A RITA!!!
Simone's excellent, award-winning and critically acclaimed book LEAVING PARADISE is up for a RITA! If you've never heard of the Ritas, they are given for the best published romance books of the year. You can read more about the awards at www.rwanational.org
I loved LEAVING PARADISE. It is simply my fave of all of Simone's books. I remember when I first met Simon back online in 2005 and then in person in Reno that summer at the romance conference. I fell in love with her! She is so warm and funny and driven. A great combination. I'm so proud of how far she's come.
So join me in recognizing Simone's AMAZING nomination! Way to go, Simone. We will be rooting for you in San Francisco this summer when the ceremony takes place. Let the dress shopping and speech-writing commence!
Buzz Girls Rock!

Heather Davis is the author of
Never Cry Werewolf
Coming in April 2009 from HarperCollins
Incidentally, her favorite line from NCW is, "Dude, you can't be a werewolf!" because that was apparently the thing that cracked up her lovely HarperCollins editor from first-read. xxo!
